Toothpaste Anyone?

So I asked Caylee the other morning what she wanted for breakfast and she told me she wanted a bagel. We usually give her the choice of butter or peanut butter on her bagel so I asked her if she wanted butter. She said, "no, toothpaste." I said "You want toothpaste on your bagel?!" "Yes!" Caylee said. Interesting combination. Maybe then you wouldn't have to brush your teeth! haha! Kids always find a way to brighten our day and make us laugh!

Caylee's Potty Trained!

So after months and months of encouraging Caylee, she is finally potty trained. We had tried this past summer and it seemed like we were making progress for two days and then she decided to completely refuse. A few weeks ago I decided that she would just practice wearing underwear in the mornings until nap time. We started this on a Sunday. On the following Monday she put underwear on and she hasn't worn a diaper since. It's been 3 weeks and counting. Hooray for Caylee! One down and one more to go:) !

Merry Christmas!

Our Christmas season began with Thanksgiving this year. We spent the day after thanksgiving picking out our Christmas tree and decorating it. The weeks that followed we baked cookies and more cookies and ate cookies and more cookies:) We also prepared the girls for the excitement by reading stories about Santa and baby Jesus and by singing lots of Christmas songs. By the time Christmas arrived Caylee was telling everyone that "Santa Claus lands on my roof and comes down the chimney and opens my door" and "he sneaks into my room and sees me when I'm sleeping and I has to be good because he's making a list". She also told daddy that the wind takes her letter to Santa and it flies in the air and makes it to the North Pole. I'm not sure how much Sallie understood about Christmas but she learned how to say Santa and she bobbed her head back and forth and mumbled words when we sang songs.
"Grandpa Holly Gooss" (as Caylee put it) came to spend Christmas with us and the girls loved having him here. Sallie thought he was her own personal jungle gym. She also dragged him by his finger all over the house. I know he enjoyed it:)
Caylee woke up at 5:30 Christmas morning and Grandpa convinced her to lay back down bc it was too early, so we all went back to sleep until Sallie woke up around 7. We were expecting Caylee to be the one that was ready to open presents and look at the toys Santa brought but she instead wouldn't leave daddy's side at first and just looked in amazement. Sallie however went straight for the gifts Santa left and began playing and then when we mentioned that the stockings were full she ran over to grab hers. Caylee finally got into opening gifts and had a great time. Every time Sallie opened a gift that Caylee liked she would tell Sallie "we can share"!
To sum it all up we had a wonderful holiday and loved having our Grandpa with us. Sallie misses her Grandpa and has brought me the computer three times and opened it up and said "banpa" hoping that we will skype him. We hope everyone else had a wonderful holiday and a Happy New Year!

It's Christmas Season!

So i decorated for Christmas earlier than I normally do. I have to admit when we looked at our house to buy one, of the first things I did was decide where the eventual tree would go and envisioned how great the house would look decorated. So I was a bit excited about decorating! We went to a tree farm day after Thanksgiving to cut down a tree. It was very cold but a lot of fun. We rode on a horse drawn wagon to where the trees were. Larry and I decided that cutting down our own tree would be the start of a family tradition. We had our first Michigan flurries while we were there! Still haven't had any "Michigan Snow" as I was expecting but I know it will come soon enough.

Did they leave the cake?!

So we had our very first Thanksgiving at our house! Grandma and Grandpa came and enjoyed it with us as well as my good friend April and her family. I made the turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole and a jello salad. Grandma Gooss made green beans, gravy, and stuffing. April brought rolls and two amazing desserts. Caylee loved the chocolate cake that April brought. She loved it soo much that after our friends left I asked her if she had fun playing with her friend Jordie and she replied with a big smile, "Did they leave the cake?" We of course, couldn't stop laughing :) Kids say the funniest things!
